Writing is magic.

We are gifted with the power to call characters and worlds and stories into being, and then share them out into the world with others. We delve into the unconscious and the subconscious on a regular basis, searching for materials to bring back to our stories. Ideas come to us from unknown realms and whisper into our ears.

What a gift we are blessed with! What power!

But many of us are beset by obstacles. The harsh voice of the inner critic, ever murmuring that will fail. A sense of overwhelm caused by competing loyalties, doubts, and deadlines. Procrastination. Writer’s Block. The dreary wasteland of burnout. And that’s not even accounting for the harsh specter of the publishing world! Whether we choose to launch our creations into the world through traditional or Indie methods, we find ourselves dealing with rejection, criticism, and overwhelm.

When we lean too far away from the magic, we forget who we are. We get ensnared in doubt and procrastination and disbelief. We are beset by inner demons and gremlins. Rejection strikes us down. Sometimes we sell out to a desire for money or fame and the joy of creation is lost to us.

Anxiety and overwhelm dog our footsteps. We feel like frauds. Many of us struggle to be able to even say the words, “I am a writer.”

What if it doesn’t have to be so hard?

What if a joyful, rewarding, satisfying writing life is right there, waiting for you? What if all you need is a little shift in your beliefs, a little adjustment of your self talk? What if your inner critic could become an ally instead of an enemy?

I believe that all of this is true and possible for you. And my mission is to help you live in the bliss of the fulfilling and satisfying creative life you deserve.

What lights me up is a combination of reveling in my own writing life and assisting other writers to live their creative dreams. I believe that writing is both a gift and a sacred calling and that we deserve to prioritize it in our lives.

I offer classes and virtual assistant services to help free you from all of the things that hold you back from the writing life of your dreams.

Virtual assistant magic

Have you ever thought about hiring a virtual assistant, but you were too swamped and overwhelmed to take the time to find somebody, and then try to explain what you need done and train somebody to do it?

Maybe you wished you could just wave a magic wand or rub a magic lamp and a genie would appear to grant your every virtual assistant wish.

Good news! Your wish is granted! I am your genie, ready to serve!

In addition to my mad virtual assistant skills, I’m also a working author who has published both traditionally and independently, so I already understand what you need. I know how to do the things you need, and will get them done quickly and professionally. Promo graphics? Done. Newsletter help? You got it. Document formatted for indie publishing? I can do that. Outreach to podcast hosts and marketing ideas? I’ve got it.

I also understand publishing related confidentiality and trust issues and you can count on me for absolute discretion.

The Whats, Whys, and Wherefores About Kerry

I bet you have some questions about me right about now. Things like:

Where did you get your magical powers?

Are you REALLY a genie? No offense, but I’m a wee bit skeptical over here.

Seriously, what qualifies you to coach me or assist me or to even have a website?

Fortunately, I have answers!

First off, I’m an experienced, working novelist with thirteen novels in print and more on the way. I’ve been published by big presses and small presses and I’ve also published Indie. Which means I have personal experience with writing, publishing, marketing, and figuring out how to do all these things while working a day job and caring for a house and family. (And cats. Let’s never forget the cats.)

My official creds include a masters degree in counseling psychology, a license to practice as a mental health counselor, and certification as a Master Kaizen Muse Creativity Coach. In my professional life I’ve worked as a coach, a counselor, a registered nurse, an administrative assistant, a high school teacher, and a lumber piler at a sawmill.

Unofficially, I’m curious as a cat and I like to learn stuff. I’ve taken online classes about money mindset, marketing, being your own PR person, copywriting, building active newsletters, and more. And I’ve experimented and played. I’ve taught myself how to do graphics. I started podcasting. I learned how to navigate zoom and Streamyard, and how to do webinars and Facebook lives.

Let’s be honest. I’m not really a genie. My personal brand of magic is an unshakeable belief that we can have beautiful, rewarding, joyful creative lives. That writing doesn’t have to be painful and that marketing can be fun. Shakespeare wrote, “for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” and I’m all about finding better feeling thoughts.

I’d love to help you shift your mindset, calm your anxiety, and get back to your love of writing. I’d love to take some behind the scenes chores off your hands to give you more time to focus on getting words on the page. So whether you could use a little coaching, or a magical virtual assistant, or both, I’m ready to be your genie. Let’s talk.
