Something Magical (and happy!) is Coming…

I have a question for you. How happy are you? Not just this particular minute or even today, but in general. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is absolute bliss and 1 is pretty much “Can’t I use zero? Are there negative numbers?” —where do you fall?

What if you could be happier?

What if I told you it’s possible to live in a consistent state of peace and well-being — yes, even in these chaotic and difficult times. Yes, even if you’re experiencing loss and personal hardship.

Even if:

  • Your writing isn’t going well—you’re blocked or procrastinating or just can’t find the time to get to your work

  • You can’t seem to connect with an agent

  • You broke up with your agent (or they broke up with you. Or turned out to be unethical and awful or just ineffective.)

  • Your small press publisher just went out of business

  • Your Big Six publisher isn’t giving your book the attention it deserves

  • You’re out of contract and your last book tanked and you feel like your writing career is over…

  • You went Indie, and nobody is buying your books and you’re ready to give it all up

  • Everything is actually going really well but you feel overwhelmed and anxious and unhappy anyway…

The good news about happiness is that science has cracked the code on happiness. We actually KNOW how to be happier. I can’t wait to share the tools, practices, and everyday magic that will help you feel happier, less stressed, and more motivated and inspired.

Hop on my email list now to make sure you get all of the happy news about courses, coaching—and feel good freebies!—that I’ll be dropping soon!

The Whats, Whys, and Wherefores About Kerry

I bet you have some questions about me right about now. Things like:

Where did you get your magical powers?

Are you REALLY a genie? No offense, but I’m a wee bit skeptical over here.

Seriously, what qualifies you to coach me or assist me or to even have a website?

Fortunately, I have answers!

First off, I’m an experienced, working novelist with fourteen novels in print and more on the way. I’ve been published by big presses and small presses and I’ve also published Indie. Which means I have personal experience with writing, publishing, marketing, and figuring out how to do all these things while working a day job and caring for a house and family. (And a cadre of rescue critters who think it’s their job to get in the way of my writing.)

My professional creds include a masters degree in counseling psychology, a license to practice as a mental health counselor, and certification as a Master Kaizen Muse Creativity Coach. (Coming soon: certification as a Happy For No Reason trainer). I’ve worked as a coach, a counselor, a registered nurse, an administrative assistant, a high school teacher, and a lumber piler at a sawmill.

In terms of life experience, I’ve been to more than enough funerals (including a husband of twenty years, both of my parents, and some other people about whom I cared deeply). My Viking and I have raised four boys between us.

Unofficially, I’m curious as a cat and I like to learn stuff. I’ve taken online classes about money mindset, marketing, being your own PR person, copywriting, building active newsletters, and more. And I’ve experimented and played. I’ve taught myself how to do graphics. I started podcasting I learned how to navigate zoom and Streamyard, and how to do webinars and Facebook lives.

Let’s be honest. I’m not really a genie. My personal brand of magic is an unshakeable belief that we can have beautiful, rewarding, joyful creative lives. That writing doesn’t have to be painful and that marketing can be fun. Shakespeare wrote, “for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” and I’m all about finding those better feeling thoughts—and showing you how to find them too.

I’d love to help you shift your mindset, calm your anxiety, and get back to your love of writing. I’d love to take some behind the scenes chores off your hands to give you more time to focus on getting words on the page. So whether you could use a class, some coaching, or a magical virtual assistant, or all of the above, I’m ready to be your genie.
